History is the Worst.

Though it often feels like we have a lot to complain about today — s#!tty wifi, expensive cocktails, dating apps —, here at HistoriCity, we thought a bit of authentic historical perspective could do us millennials some good.

History is the Worst - Taos Lightning

You think absurdly expensive cocktails crafted by apron-wearing, moustache-wielding bartenders are the worst? Try again. Kendra & Grace taste test a pioneer classic: Taos Lightning. Also known as rotgut, tanglefoot, shakeknee and busthead, this historic whiskey drink arrived in Denver in 1858 and made the whole town hilarious.

We also want to acknowledge up front that, at times, history truly was the worst.

In this series, we choose to highlight a few charming historical contrasts not to diminish the seriousness of the many terrible acts humans have wrought upon one another over time, but rather, to connect to a wider audience who can learn from history and thus endeavor to do better.
